The Unit must be named as additional insured. Failure to abide by this will be grounds for loss of your membership rights. Membership fee is $150.00 per year for an individual and $200.00 per year for a family. This runs January to January. Members seventeen (17) years of age or under are non-voting. Must be 18 to apply for a single membership. The Tacoma Unit reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. Applications received after February 1 are not eligible for renewal. They are considered new applications. There is a requirement in Article III, Section 4, of the Constitution and Bylaws which states that members shall be required to contribute at least eight (8) hours of work per year to the Tacoma Unit No.1. Also Article III, Section 9 states upon the written complaint of any member of the organization the Board of Directors may request the resignation of any member for improper conduct or behavior detrimental to the harmony or well being of the organization. The applicant (the undersigned) agrees to release the Tacoma Unit No. 1, it’s Board of Directors, and it’s members from all responsibility for any loss or accident that may occur to horse, rider, owner, guest, or equipment.
GENERAL RULES OF MEMBERSHIP
*MEMBERS ONLY! A non-member may be a guest only twice. (Lifetime) All members must be prepared to show evidence of current membership to any member of the Unit who requests such evidence. *There is NO SMOKING in the barns, bleachers, offices, or the restrooms. Cigarette butts should be placed in the butt cans prior to entering these areas. *Members using the restroom in the Twomey Barn shall make sure it is cleaned after their use. *Persons must be eighteen (18) years of age to handle stallions. *All dogs must be on a leash, controlled and accompanied by their handler at all times. No dogs are permitted in the concession area. No running, shouting, bicycle riding or other disruptive conduct is permitted in the barns. *There shall be no riding, mounting or dismounting in the barns. *No shoeing or trimming of horses is allowed in the barn aisles or between the barns. Use the shoeing shed, and clean up when your farrier departs. *Loose horses are not permitted in the arena or on the grounds except in approved turn-out areas. Persons in charge of the turned out horses must stay on the ground at all times. The round pens have a 20 minute use time. *Only one (1) horse at a time may be longed or gypped in the arena. If there are more than ten (10) horses being ridden, longe or gyp in the warm-up arena or other established area. Do not create a new area on the grass or other parts of the grounds. *There are no exclusive areas of the arena for the conduct of instructions, etc. No member has priority over another whether giving/taking instructions or just riding. No disruptive action is permitted, such as shouting, giving instruction to students in a loud voice, cracking of whips, or any action which may affect other arena users. *All equipment used must be returned neatly and orderly to its proper storage area. When setting up jumps, trail courses, etc. place them far enough away from the wall to allow others riding to pass. Report damaged equipment to the main office. *Do not stop along the wall of the arena. Do not back your horse against the flow of traffic. Put “Red Tags” on tails of kicking horses and/or forelocks of biting horses. *Do not tack or tie your horse in the arena or paddock area at any time. If you tack up in one of the show barns clean up your mess before you leave. *Clean-up after using the wash racks, and empty the muck bucket if you use it. Do not wash manure down the drain. Clean up the grounds where you have parked before you leave. *All riding must be complete and equipment put away with members clear of the arena prior to scheduled hours of drill nights of the innerclubs. No use of the arena is available during a horse show where the grounds have been rented to an outside organization. This includes days & evenings when the shows are finished with their classes. THE GROUNDS BELONG TO THE SHOW!! (In most cases, during good weather, you may ride in the Joan Mitchell arena. Contact the office to see if it is available. I have read and understand the above and have also read the Constitution and Bylaws of the Washington Horsemen, Inc., Tacoma Unit No.1 and agree to abide by all.
